Crescent Head Accomodation — Goolawah Bush & Beach Retreat

Location

Crescent Head is a 4hr 45min drive from Sydney and just under six hours from Brisbane. You can also catch a train from Sydney to Kempsey, just 20min away. Or fly into Port Macquarie Airport and hire a car for the 45min drive.

Goolawah Retreat is a 4min (3.4kms) drive from the centre of town.

SURFING

Crescent Head is a surfing paradise, with its famous point break one of the longest rides in Australia.
Surfing is the big drawcard of Crescent Head, particularly for long-board riders. On the mid North Coast of NSW, it’s home to one of the best right-hand point breaks in the world, and the easy-going town is one of the hottest spots of international surfing. The Malibu Classic is held every May.

Hire a Malibu board in town and enjoy superb surfing beaches north and south of Crescent Head, including Main Beach, Back Beach, Killick Beach, Goolawah Reserve Beach, Big Hill, Delicate Nobby and Racecourse Beach. Check out the beach that suits your experience before entering the surf.

BUSHWALKING

You’ll find beautiful sandy beaches and coastal national parks great for bushwalking and watching whales and dolphins. Enjoy bushwalking, swimming and fishing in the coastal national parks. To the south is Goolawah National Park and Limeburners Creek National Park, named for the lime created in colonial times from burning oyster shells. You’ll find significant Aboriginal cultural heritage sites in the parks that date back thousands of years.

The Big Hill Rainforest walking track is a moderately challenging 1.4km loop with spectacular views.

GOLF

Whether you’re a social golfer or a seasoned professional, playing the six hole course at the Crescent Head Country Club is arguably one of the best golfing experiences in Australia. With spectacular, sweeping views of the Pacific Coast, and beautifully manicured grounds the Crescent Head Golf Course provides a thoroughly picturesque location to play golf. During the whale migration seasons of late May to early July and October to early November, see the passing whales from the golf course.
